Looking to do long distance real estate investing

Posted

Hello BP Family,

I live in Washington DC and currently have a 4 unit building from "house hacking" and I also have a two unit in Baltimore Md. I've been interested in doing some long distance real estate investing and low and behold I ran across a family member who is retiring  and moving to Florida. She has a 2-unit residential property with a full basement in Harrison NJ 07029. She lives in one unit and is renting out the other. I would love to purchase this property as a long term rental, however, the deal doesn't work for me unless I can convert it to a 3 or 4 unit building by rehabbing the basement for one unit and going up an additional level to make it a 4 unit. I am looking for an real estate agent and Property management company and a general contractor that knows Harrison's zoning laws to determine if this is possible. So if anyone is doing business in Harrison NJ please reach out to me at your convenience. Thank you
