Question on the order of renovation

Hi,

I have a question on the order of renovation of my duplex.  The duplex is currently in escrow now but I want to start planning on the renovation works.  We will redo the flooring, water piping, kitchens and baths.  This duplex also has a termite issue.  Would you suggest I do the termite treatment first or should I should I leave it last?  Any thought on this will be greatly appreciated!

thanks,

Alice

Hi @Alice Chau!  Welcome to the Bigger Pockets community, and to the awesome world of active investing!  Depending on the severity of the termite damage this could change, but in general you'll want to remediate the termite damage first.  This could be a bigger or smaller issue than you can tell from the surface inspection, so you'll want to sure this up before doing cosmetic top-outs.

For a great overview on this subject I would recommend Jay Scott's book on Flipping Houses, available at the BP bookstore and most other places books are sold and rented :)
