Tenant refusing to pay rent for extra month

Posted

Right now my tenant has told me she is staying an extra month after I offered the extra time and she refused. She has told me that she isn’t paying another months rent because I have the security deposit. She has called the town about two small repairs a stain in the ceiling and replacing a light. Now she called the police because we had an argument in the front lawn about how she needs to pay the rent. (All of which is tactic she has started since I told her she owes me the rent) The actual lease is up at the end of the month. She is moving into her own house at the end of the month so she says but I’m not sure the eviction process is worth it.

I'd start an eviction tomorrow morning and don't let her off the hook.  Don't use the security deposit for the rent.  I would not have any conversations with her in the future.   She can tell it to the Judge.
