Window Replacement - Acrylic,Plexiglass,or Glass??

Okay so on my buildings I have a 30 year old building.Next to the door is a 2 pane slider.

One of the panes broke from someone attempting to get in to one of the units.

From my car audio business days I worked with plexiglass.Much tougher than glass to break and was clear and easy to clean.

Was thinking of buying a sheet for 20 bucks and putting in the front as one piece replacing the slider. The slider is next to the front door so it does not need escape access or air flow just to let sun light in the front room.

Opinions??

Thanks
