FHA Fourplex: A smart beginners move?
As the title suggests I'm looking into starting my RE investing career by purchasing a fourplex on an FHA loan. I don't have any properties lined up, but assuming it was a solid deal: is this a smart move to make if my overall goal is to get into high unit apartment complexes? I'm open to every avenue of REI so I can generate enough capital to get my hands on those apartment complexes but am leaning towards the fourplex. So from a capital-acquiring AND experience-generating perspective: Is this a good idea?
For some context I just graduated college and hopefully get the job I've been interviewing for for the past month. If that doesn't end up working out I might go for a career involving real estate. Fortunately my parents haven't grown tired of me and offered for me to live at home, so I would have virtually zero expenses while I save up for it. I've read books, listened to podcasts, but have zero experience and no connections as of yet. I really want to get going on this sooner than later but I also don't want my first move to put me in the hole.
