First time multifamily investment using VA home loan

I'm new to real estate but I've been reading and trying to educate myself. I'm a veteran that has the VA home loan available to use and I want to buy a multifamily home (2 units) so I stay in one side and rent the other one out. I'm currently living in Waukesha, WI and I want to buy in this city or in the Milawukee area. I'm looking for some advice on the matter. I have the VA home loan but I was wondering if that would be a good option or should I try a different type of loan.
