Multi-family markets in Chicagoland

Hi everyone-

my husband and I are new investors, looking for multi-family long term holds. Our sweet spot is about $400K, with an NOI of $30K per year. This is really challenging to find in the Bay area where we live. We are looking into other markets, particularly Chicagoland where we have family and where my husband is originally from.

Is this possible? Any advice much appreciated.
