Multiple Single Family Homes On 1 Lot - Advice

Hello, am new to this community and have dug around and there are some excellent resources here!

I am looking at making a fairly major investment on my first multi-family property.  I have read a lot about 4-5+ plex investments.  The property I am looking at consist of 7 single family homes (3 bedrooms each) on one single plot of land.  What are your thoughts?  I know having things under one roof is nice but I thought that this was an interesting investment to look into.  Currently where I live there has been a huge surge in dense multifamily development.  I though that a property like this could set me apart with people that want a little more than what you get with an apartment (garage, yard, etc).  The property is in town and fairly well maintained. 

Should I be looking  more into a 'traditional' multi-family?  Any words of advice or caution with the on I am currently looking into?

I currently have 1 single family home that I have been renting for about 7 years now. So I have some knowledge as to what it takes to be a landlord and manage a property.
