Suggestions on multifamily underwriting

Samyak Rai
Posted

Hello,

My name is Samyak and I am looking to invest in a 5-10 unit multifamily. I am familiar with small multifamily analysis, but this is my first foray into commercial properties. I was wondering how the underwriting process changes for bigger multifamily properties. I have seen a lot of people use a tried and tested spreadsheet to transfer information from the T-12 to. I will be grateful if someone can point to how I can access such a spreadsheet to make the underwriting process easier.

I will also be using a DSCR loan with with a DSCR ratio of 1.5x and would appreciate feedback on other ways I can gain access to capital. A DSCR loan seems easy to deal with with less paperwork, depending on the cashflow of the property instead of income which is preferable for me.

Thank You!
