Buying a foreclosure from a bank

Looking for some information on buying property through bank foreclosure. I'm in a process of purchasing it property and I'm told that the bank will only give me a clear title from the time they took possession of property. What shall I do? If I go past the date of closing the bank wants to charge me per day.

@Suzanne Player I got the property on the MLS. Came back on market after other deal fell through.
