Escrow Process--Is no commuincation from Escrow common?

I am in escrow on a home with multiple liens that nearly went into foreclosure. I have been in escrow since March 2020 and cannot get escrow to give me a final pay off. A few months ago they said our offer was short and that they were in contact with IRS regarding a short sale. The IRS requested the appraisal and inspection which we provided. We were scheduled to close Nov 2 and sent escrow a buyer/seller signed extension this week. No acknowledgment from Escrow. I've sent multiple requests asking for current pay off as interest is accruing daily. No response. Is no reply and escrow's inability to give pay off typical with difficult deals? I would think this number would be something escrow could easily provide as they have all the amounts owed and daily interest rates. Any advice?
