Risk of Threats or Retaliation from Former Owners in Foreclosure

I've always been intrigued by the idea of buying foreclosures, but I'm also painfully aware that each of these deals involves a story of heartbreaking loss for someone else.

Can those of you with knowledge in this area chime in about your experiences with former owners stalking or threatening you or the new tenants? Is this a valid concern, or does it happen so rarely, that nobody worries because the benefits outweigh the risks?
