ABSTRACT OF JUDGEMENT - TEXAS

Hi BP. I am interested in getting into the arena of Foreclosures/Sheriff Sales and during my research I found properties a few counties south of me that have some great potential. However, there are a couple that have an abstract of judgement liens offered via a Sheriff Sale(2 due to lawsuits where the homeowner lost the court case for damages to plaintiff almost 3 times the value of the homes.) I know I should consult an attorney but time is limited as the auctions are all next week. My question is, if I happen to win a bid, would I as the buyer have a responsibility to clear the lien from the abstract of judgement? I know this side of REI is very risk but I don't think I will ever learn to mitigate the risk if I don't start somewhere.

Thanks BP
