How to Find a Loan Number?

I have a seller who left his property to his ex-wife 10 years ago, and she stopped making the payment a few months ago. It’s now in pre-foreclosure but I need his loan number in order to attain his mortgage info. Is there a way to find his loan number, without the seller doing anything?

If it went to the ex-wife in a divorce, why do you believe he is still on title? If he is on the mortgage, just have him contact the lender and get a statement with a reinstatement amount. That should be able to be done over the phone. If he can't do that because he isn't on the loan, (or if he isn't on title) then you have bigger problems and you have to deal with the ex-wife. She may or may not cooperate.
