Looking into HUD foreclosure

I am looking into buying a HUD foreclosure as owner occupied but am not sure if I want to live in it long term or even even short term. How strict/serious is if I don't end up living in it and start renting it out?

I’m also curious about this question in general l when applying for a loan as first time home buyer/owner occupied but not living in the house.

Does anyone have any experience/advice with this?
