Anybody used a city vacant property list to find leads?

I found a Vacant property list that is provided by KCMO. It lists vacant properties throughout the city, the contact person and the owner information. Do you think it is worth contacting the banks or property management companies to try to get leads on upcoming foreclosures or preforeclosures? Does anybody have experience or had success doing this?
