Property Donation
I run a non profit, and we are looking for land for a wild horse sanctuary / youth center. I was thinking of contacting the asset managers from all the banks to see if they would be willing to donate property to our organization (501(c)3).
1. I was wondering if this would be the best approach, if a bank would actually do this (I had a VERY well known real estate investor donate a condo to another non-profit I ran many years ago), and how to go about doing this.
2. Should I just ask if they have any property they would donate, without any criteria, and if we can't use it sell it to buy what we need, or should I be very specific in what I am looking for, or should I identify a specific property to ask about?
3. Would it be better to contact the bank directly as maybe they have properties that are not even on the market yet, or contact an agent?
4. Where can I get a free list of contacts for asset managers?
5. Has anyone heard of or been involved with this type of transaction.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tracy
