Insuring a foreclosure on date of ownership
This is in Oklahoma.
Something I don’t see a lot of discussion about is insurance on foreclosures / sheriff’s sales. I bought one for what I consider a good price that I intend to live in, but it is currently occupied so I can’t get on or in the property to see it. The exterior yard and house is in immaculate condition, the roof appears to be in very good (~10 year old) condition, but the interior and functioning of fixtures and equipment is unknown.
My current homeowner insurance company won’t write a policy until they can inspect, which is sometime this month, AFTER my confirmation date, which is tomorrow. I believe the occupant is the foreclosed owner, so who know what can happen after tomorrow; I want to be protected.
Surely someone writes short-term high-risk policies for situations like this, I just don’t know who they are. I would only need it until my own provider can put a normal homeowner’s policy in place.
Thanks for any help!
