REO land deals

Anyone had experience with REO deals on developed land? Wondering if there are any good deals on land at the moment, with the strategy of buy and hold for a few years then sell to a developer. I know it's possible to get land in some areas for $3k per block where the cost to develop might be $30k, so even if you sell it just at the cost to develop in a few years you are doing ok. Of course need to select an area where there is still development going on or is likely to be new development in the future.
