NYS County Tax Auction

There is an upcoming county auction with over 200 properties. I have gone through the list and identified a dozen or so I would like to do further research on. If anyone has any experience bidding/buying properties through a tax auction I would love to hear some advice or experiences you may have had. Currently in the process of lining up funding for the auction and am hoping to be able to snag a property or two. Should I start with doing title research on the properties after I go and do a drive by check on the properties?
