Owner Occupant HUD experience?

Hey All,

My husband and I have our eyes on a HUD home. We're considering bidding on it as owner-occupants and renting out our primary for a year. The house in question is about 6 blocks from our current home, and it will meet our family's needs. But right now it needs significant work.

My understanding is that we only have 60 days to move into the home after closing if we try to get the house as owner-occupants. I doubt we can get the house fixed that quickly.

Does anyone have experience working with HUD officials? How willing are they to work with you on that 60 days?

Thanks!

No issue at all as the Hud police do not show up on day 61 :). As long as you document the scope and do move in all is good

You did not indicate whether you will pau cash or finance. Due to the condition, make sure to choose a lender that is familiar with the Hud process and has a workaround in place as the appraiser may not have access to the utilities
