Tax collection and tax delinquent sheriff sales

Hi All! Can someone help me out and explain the difference between tax collections, tax delinquency and foreclosures that takes place at a sheriff sale? From what I have researched, tax delinquent means taxes have never been paid on the house since purchase. Then tax collections would be the home owner fell behind on taxes. The part that I am getting confused is, why are the auctions separated into different auction dates. Are there different processes to bid on the site? I am also coming across tax liens. How can I differentiate the status of auction and/or house between tax lien sales and tax foreclosure sales? From what I see, liens are automatically put onto the house once the taxes are not paid. Please advise!! Thanks! -Timara Marie
