Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act Extension 2015 and 2016

I was enthusiastic when I read an article about debt relief act which has to do with Short Sale.  Part of the article from windermere.com dated March 26, 2015:

"Senators Dean Heller (R-Nev) and Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich) have introduced a bipartisan bill that would extend the Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act through 2015 and all of 2016.  Heller is an influential member of the Senate Finance Committee and has pledged to attach the bill to a larger piece of legislation that is moving through the committee.  We will keep you posted on the progress of the extension as the process moves forward."

As of now, I have not seen, read or heard any update on this.  Anyone with an update please.  The year 2015 is almost over.  I am anxious.  What are the chances of this act being extended again?  Thank you and I appreciate your attention and response.
