Can I negotiate removal of fire department lien?
I'm interested in buying a foreclosure SFR in Portland that has a $100K fire department lien attached. I understand that this house was ill maintained for many years causing the city some headaches. Finally, there was a fire and the fire department slapped the house with a lien. I plan to pay off the 1st and wonder if or how I can negotiate with the fire department to make nice and get the lien removed or reduced. Has anybody dealt with this type of lien? Any suggestions?
