Pre-Foreclosure Motivated Seller (Step #1 Is????????)

I have a motivated who states that his home is going into foreclosure. He recieved a notice about 3 months ago stating they are no longer taking any payments on the home. I know time is of the essence at this point and this will more than likely be a great wholesale opportunity. What is the first step I must take in order to secure this property? I have purchased and sold many properties in the past howver this is the first pre-foreclosure client.  I will be meeting with the customer at the home on tommorow to asses repairs and make an offer on the home. Is this the correct way to go about doing this??
