Residential to commercial

I have been in real estate a mere 12 months, so I am fairly new. I am currently doing residential but have had multiple commercial deals come up in this time. I have been referring these deals to my brokerages commercial agent. Each time I have asked to be involved as much as possible to dip my toes into commercial real estate and gain knowledge, he has pushed back and doesn't want me to be a part of the transaction. So I am now very wary in referring him my deals. Just this week my family (parents) have expressed extreme interest in buying commercial property for their business and have said they would prefer to use me as their agent. So I have a few questions.

1) As I have never done commercial real estate, am I legally aloud to help them? They are only buying, and I would NOT plan on being a listing agent now or in the near future

2) If I were to want to switch to commercial real estate, what are the first steps to take?

3) I highly prefer to leave my brokerages listing agent out of anything in the future, so should I be looking for another commercial agent to work with and be my "mentor"?

4) Since I have referred so many commercial deal in the past, I really do not want to refer this one.

5) Since it is family and they are aware I have no experience in commercial real estate, would a brokerage be more lenient inletting me do a commercial transaction?

Any other tips and info anyone can give is so appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
