Rehabbing Apartment Building

Does anyone here have experience in rehabbing or converting a building to apartments? My husband and I have experience with single family homes and we bought a brick school house in TX and are wanting to convert it to an apartment building, maybe for low-incom housing, but we are looking for any and all resources available for funding, etc.
