I know you are only 21 and your lack of experience shows, evidenced by typing the phrase "the North Carolina area". It seems you seek "the commercial multi-family market in the North Carolina area" and I would suggest narrowing your focus to an MSA or city (or cities) in NC that meet your investment criteria, which aren't defined or identified.
Wake and Mecklenburg (top tier) counties are quite different than (bottom tier) Scotland/Robeson/Columbus counties. But I have substantial investment in one of those top tier and one bottom tier counties for completely different reasons. It's all about context and your goals. I'd encourage you to provide more detail on what you are trying to achieve to get better responses to you post.
