Subdividing a rental property
I have a list of several properties I may buy as rentals which have easy potential to become top-down duplexes (i.e. basement apartments or mother-in-laws). What do-diligence is needed to ensure subdividing the property is legal? Does the zoning need to be changed? Or is this just as simple as a phone call to the city?
Thanks a million
