Stucco Crack in Home Inspection Report

Ryan Jones
Posted

Hello, I am in the process of purchasing a home and one item that was revealed is external stucco cracks. The home was originally built in 1896 but completely remodeled top to bottom in 2018 including the stucco. The home inspection found very little concerns and said the crawl space foundation appeared to be reinforced during 2018 remodel which is consistent with the 2018 sales listing comment.

Should I be concerned about the cracks in the stucco in the picture? The wall faces West and received very hot (110F) weather during the summer months. There are also very small cracks (I'll call them hairline) in other locations but this spot seems to be the worst. Is it cause for worry or just cosmetic and needs a small repair? The home inspector (highly rated) did not seem to think it was a major concern and seemed to think it may have been a poor job or was done in the summer and dried to quickly.
