Anyone investing in LTRs in Texas?

Hi everyone, I’m a new member here and new to real estate investment. My wife and I just relocated to DFW, and we’re looking to start investing in real estate. I have a stable full-time job that provides us an opportunity to invest. However, one thing that’s killing all the party here is the high cost of property taxes in TX. Yes rent is also more expensive, but it doesn’t help that appreciation is limited due to property taxes. So I was wondering if anyone is investing in real estate here or if it’s not the greatest idea and we should look elsewhere?
