Radon Test on New Construction

Jerome Smith
Posted

Hello.  Looking for advice on how to handle radon testing on new construction purchase for client.  The builder has in their contract that they encourage radon testing but they do not pay for the test and are not responsible for remediation.  At the same time, the builder is in a rush to get to the finish before closing, so it would be difficult to schedule an accurate radon test before closing.

Is this what most of your experience is on a new build?  The likelihood of high radon levels is probably low but is it up to the buyer to get this test done after closing and address any issues then by themselves without support of the builder?
