SC 4% owner-occupied property tax with multiple owners
Hi,
My mom, my wife, and I are planning to purchase a house in South Carolina, and both my wife and I are going to be on the mortgage as non-occupied co-borrower while my mom is the primary occupied borrower. All three of us will be on the deed of the house.
My wife and I have a primary residency in South Carolina already, but my mom doesn't. We'd like to apply for a 4% owner-occupied property tax rate since my mom will be living in this house as a primary residence.
Will there be a legal issue if we apply for this 4% while my wife and I are not living in this house but my mom does?
Thanks.
