Can my husband and I both qualify for first time homebuyer loans?

We're just starting out with investing and got a property which we basically house hacked. It's our primary residence, but everything is in my (the wife) name. Is it possible for my husband to get a loan for a different property in his name and claim it as his primary residence? How does (or doesn't) this work with taxes? We'd have different primary residences for a little while, but couldn't we make the argument that he lived in the other one while he renovated it full time and I lived here to maintain it?
