First investment property/home
I have just put an offer on a home (legal 3-flat; I will live in one unit and rent the others) that the seller gutted and started doing work. The seller had, in his words, a renowned architect here in Illinois to draft the architectural plans/blueprints for the rehab. My question is:
Here in Chicago, IL (Cook County) can I use the architectural plans that the seller already has or do I need to hire a different architect to have new plans drafted?
If I am able to use the existing plans, what process must I follow that will allow me to LEGALLY use those plans/blueprints?

@Maurice Burnett - Congrats on getting some offers out. It will definitely come through if it's meant to be.
With regard to your plans, you can most definitely use the plans from the seller, but the next step is to figure out whether or not the city of Chicago has reviewed them. If they have and there is still an active permit you would just need to change the GC to whoever is going to be doing the work.
If the plans have not been reviewed by the city, you'll have to submit them for permitting and go through the process.
I'd start by reaching out to the current architect and get an understanding of where the process is at.
@Prashanth Mahakali & @Samuel Pavlovcik - Wanted to tag you to make sure I did not speak out of turn. Thanks!
