Buyers Agent problem

Michael Weaver
Posted

I'm a newbie investor, looking to buy a STR cabin in Sevier Co. TN. Here's my issue. I have a buyers agent, but this agent is asking for 4% commission. In the event that we would purchase a property, the standard 2.4 percent commission comes from the listing agent, and I'm on the hook for the remaining 1.6%. I signed a one year buyers agent agreement before I became aware that this is really high. Do I have any options other sitting out the market for a year, or just sucking it up and paying the $10,000- $15,000 extra that it'll cost me?
