Looking at a property in the middle of land dispute
I am currently looking at purchasing a property and the neighbors are disputing the lot lines between theirs and the property I am looking at. The town as marked where they believe they are based on survey results but the neighbors are not satisfied and are disputing the decision. The area in question is only a few feet of a dirt driveway that leads to the back of the property I am looking at. It appears to also be the only vehicle access to their livestock paddock and chicken coop.
Is this something I should wait for the courts to make a decision on before I make an offer? The plus side is there is no real interest right now, most likely due to the situation and could provide me with leverage as far a negotiating a price. Or could I be setting myself up for too much of a headache purchasing a property in a land battle?
