Title issues, finding the satisfaction letter

Irvin Rivera
Posted

I’m in the process of buying my mother’s house. My father paid off the house off in 03’ with CitiCorp.

Father passed away and my mother decided to cash out refin in 06’ for 100k with Carrington mortgage. Fast forward, I’m in the process in purchasing the home but my title company needs the payoff letter for the 03’ mortgage.

Title company has no prob getting the 06’ mortgage because it’s still active.

My title company states that they have no idea how the title company gave the cashed out refin without that payoff letter in 06’.

So everything is good to go to the closing table but what’s stopping us is they will not insure the 03’ payoff without confirmation.

They even suggested that we go with the title company that insured her in 06’, but the problem is that we have been trying to contact them and we get no response. What’s my next step? How can my mother get the letter of satisfaction from the 03’ mortgage from Citicorp which is no longer doing mortgages.
