using multiple real estate agents

Posted

Does anyone use more than one real estate agent at a time? An example would be using one agent for single family homes and another for investing in multi family homes. I'm currently looking for a new single family home for my family, but also keeping an eye out for investment opportunities in multifamily homes. The agent I'm using found us our first home but doesn't usually deal with investors. Would it be considered morally wrong to work with another agent at the same time just for multi fams?

If you have a buyers agreement with an agent, and you start working with another agent, it is asking for trouble. Your buyers agreement entitles the agent to your business in under the conditions listed on the agreement. IF you want to work with multiple agents, 1.) You will have to find agents willing to do it 2.) You will have to get a buyers agreement that is property specific. As an agent I personally will not work with someone who openly wants to have other agents also representing them. It results in a waste of my time and does not incentivize me to work hard for you.
