Looking to help a friend

Hi Bigger Pockets fam. Im Jeffrey new to BP and new to real estate investing, living in Oahu Hawaii. My Question is I have an friend who's  father(owner) pass away about 6 years ago. My friend and his siblings been watching the vacant property since, but they aren't sure who legally owns the home since it was under their fathers name. I would love to help them out, but not sure where to start as they are open to sale. Thanks
