Home with a recent tragedy

I live in a ski resort in Colorado where we had a high profile murder and attempted suicide. This happened in their home. I believe the father might have 100k in equity. I do not know who the bank or servicer is but I want to know how the bank will handle this situation? Will they consider selling this performing note at a discount? The circumstances are tragic and the father is left trying to put the pieces of his life back together and I'm not looking to profit. If any of you have experience with a matter like this please advise.
