Bank-owned Doublewide mobile home on owned land. Missing title
I'm interested in purchasing a property which includes a double-wide, on a permanent foundation, on owned land. The previous owner died while still mortgaged and the bank foreclosed on the property. I had a title search run on the land part of things and that checked out ok. However, the title for the doublewide cannot be located, nor can an affidavit of affixture. I'm trying to find a way to determine if the Bank is the legal owner, able to legally sell the doublewide along with the parcel. I toured the house but was not at that time looking for the VIN; I have since learned about mobile/manufactured home data plates and am trying to get back inside so I can locate the HUD/VIN numbers and run them at the DMV. If I can't get back inside or if I'm otherwise unable to locate the necessary ID numbers, is there any way to look this information up by the owner's name or address? Are there other ways to address this issue?
