Turnkey or House Hack

Garrett Woodham
Posted

Hey guys, I'm looking to purchase my first real estate property. I'd eventually like to start using the BRRRR strategy, but I'm not confident enough yet to do that for my first deal. With that being said, I'd like to either house-hack or purchase a turnkey property. What would you recommend for a first purchase? Thanks in advance!

House hacking should be the best way to start especially if you want to eventually BRRRR. After understanding how to manage a property while house hacking, you can eventually move out and make even more by renting out the unit you stayed in.

With House hacking, you can reduce or remove your personal living expenses. That will enable you to save hundreds or thousands a month (depending where you live) which can be applied to the next house. Its also nice to learn the ropes of land loading while house hacking, and have a place to store your things instead of paying for a storage unit (if there's enough space in the garage/ basement).
