Looking at a property
When you go to see a property for the first time, especially older ones, do you take contractors or anyone else with you to look at what degree of rehab a property needs or to help predict likely cap ex? I recently looked a property with a sagging roof and some questionable supports in the basement. If I did bring someone, would a contractor be able to have that insight, or would I need to utilize a structural engineer? I would love to hear any insights or past experiences you guys have had with older homes. My market is about and hour and 10 minutes west of Chicago. Thanks!
