I cried Uncle on the repair
We have a property under contract to sell with a close date of Dec.1. The inspection revealed a drip from the second floor tub to the basement and I agreed to repair it. It takes 5 minutes of running the tub tap, to wait for the drip to make its way to the basement. Four plumbers have looked but no one wants to commit to the job (find source of leak and finish by Dec.1). I searched for 10 days. It is a tough find, no doubt, as walls may have to be opened to reveal the stack, inspect the 'Y' where the tub drain meets the stack, and maybe pull the toilet and open floor; hairy stuff. Could it below the tub? Then, close the walls and return the place to normal. Two plumbers could schedule the repair in early December.
Time to negotiate, again.
I offered $1,800 credit in lieu of the repair, or to move the close date out two weeks. Buyer took the credit.
