Buying a property young

Hello, me and my brother want to buy a property together soon. He is 15 and I am 17 and we would like to buy one soon after he graduates from high school. We want to put down $25000 each on a $500k apartment with 10% down payment over 30 years. We'd love to get a 3 bedroom apartment that we can both live in while renting out a room to someone else. My brother will be going to university and I will be working in that area, I don't know much about real estate investing so I'd like your guys thoughts to see if this is a good idea as 10% is a pretty small down payment.
