Looking for a real estate brokerage/assocation

Hello,

Last year in November I passed my real estate exam. Not sure how it works by state, but in Illinois you have 1 year after you pass your exam to hang your license with a brokerage before you have to retake the test. Well, right after I passed the exam I purchased a house and spent the next couple of months rehabbing it and didn't hang my license. Then COVID hit, everything closed down, and I got lazy. Well, now I have one month to find somewhere to hang my license. I am currently wrapped up in my company right now and am not looking to sell houses. I briefly remember my teacher in real estate school mentioning something about brokerages where you can just hang your license to keep it active and not have it inoperative. Is this true? If so, what are the names of the companies? I don't want to sound like a cheapskate, but I don't want to get stuck paying huge monthly fees every month when I am not technically using my license. I am in Illinois and so is the state I got my license in. Any feedback or whatever is appreciated!

Thank you
