Cistern and Vault System

Does anyone have experience buying a property with a cistern and vault plumbing system? Did you upgrade it to a well/septic? Thank you!

@Amy D.  in Rhode Island it is required to upgrade. You have to see what is required in your area. I would upgrade definitely to septic if you are going to rent.  If you have a remote cabin you are putting on hipcamp  maybe not,  but a regular rental even if not required I would upgrade.  In AZ I know there are hauled water houses that sell but not sure how they work as rentals.
