Advice for beginner *Real estate investing*

I am new to real estate and am interested in investing. I am not sure where to start. Should I reach out to local investors and see if I could be a personal assistant or intern for them? I understand time is money. I had a guy tell me he would charge me 7,500 for six months of mentorship or 11,000 for one year of mentorship. He also said to me if i couldn't afford it, I could apply for financing. I know time is money, but the money I could spend paying for the mentorship I could use toward my investment property or something else. Any advice is appreciated. I want to know how should i get started and how much should I save to get started?
