Acquiring property before auction

Small beach front home. Coming up for auction in September. It’s listed on Auction.com. 2bed 1 bath 744sf. Owner is in his 80s. His wife is in a different town in a nursing facility. This would make a nice vacation rental due to its location. How do I approach buying this property before Auction?
